Scrap Metal Services Announces Important Organizational Structure Changes

Scrap Metal Services, LLC (SMS), headquartered in Burnham, Illinois, is pleased to announce an exciting change in its leadership team. 

Effective December 12, 2018, Jeff Gertler (CEO) and Rick Gertler (COO) have moved into board level positions as Chairman and Co-Chairman of the newly formed Board of Directors of Scrap Metal Services, L.L.C. and its affiliates.  Jeff and Rick will oversee business development and relationship retention, but will not be active in the day to day activities.

Jeremy Kirchin, who began his career with SMS as the President of SMS’s mill services division 2 years ago and quickly then ascended to President of all divisions, has now moved into the position of Chief Executive Officer.  We are excited at the prospect of the expertise and experience that he brings to the table that will ensure our continued success, as well as a culture of trust and accountability.”

Scrap Metal Services, LLC (SMS) headquartered in Burnham (Chicago), IL, together with its affiliates, including its mill services division, SMS Mill Services, LLC, operates scrap processing, steel mill services, ship dismantlement and recycling, intermodal/truck/railcar dismantling facilities throughout the United States.  SMS provides full-service scrap management, consulting and purchasing services to industrial scrap generators both domestically and internationally. SMS is also a supplier of ferrous and nonferrous scrap commodities to both domestic and international consumers.
